About Us
Who Even Reads is a new publication of independent, socially conscious books coverage that’s both fun and serious. We’re two people exploring today’s (and occasionally yesterday’s) literature in the larger cultural context of the systemic issues that affect what and who is published and read, of what subjects writers are encouraged to engage with or discouraged from addressing, of how society is influenced by writing and vice versa, and of how this all connects to the past and the future of reading. The content we produce is informed by our politics—including a perspective aligned with liberation, abolition, queer and trans rights, and racial and disability justice—as well as by our personal experiences and curiosity about the experiences of others. We prioritize engaging with books that are in conversation with or relevant to current events and the realities of capitalism, suppression, and oppression in our world. We also prioritize joy, reading for pleasure, and playful interaction with language and texts.
Right now, you can subscribe below to enjoy everything we publish for free. We plan on making some of our content available only via paid subscription in the future, in order to sustain and grow this project in the long run. In the meantime, you can support us by signing up for a free subscription, following us on social media, making a donation, and/or telling other people about us. We’re grateful for any and all support—thank you!
